ExplicitAI LLC is a Maryland-based startup building the AI dispatch engine that lets homeowners, faith organizations, and community associations across the DMV region put their existing solar, battery, and EV assets to work — earning real revenue from PJM capacity markets and BGE/Pepco demand response programs, not just passive net-metering credits.
Our Mission
Over 75,000 homes across the DC–Maryland–Virginia region already own solar, battery, and EV assets representing 200+ megawatts of dispatchable capacity — yet most of that capacity sits idle, earning only passive net-metering credits. The Maryland DRIVE Act (2024) and FERC Order 2222 (effective February 2027) have now opened demand response and PJM wholesale market access to third-party aggregators like ExplicitAI. Our mission is to close the remaining gap: the hardware-agnostic, academically-validated dispatch technology needed to actually capture that opportunity for the people who own the assets.
We believe the path to a resilient, decentralized grid runs through communities, not just utilities — which is why our platform is built around a community-enrollment model (faith organizations, HOAs, affordable housing operators) rather than a one-homeowner-at-a-time sales motion, and why we're pursuing rigorous, third-party academic validation of our core technology rather than shipping unverified claims.

The Longer-Term Vision
Our community VPP platform is the product we're building and shipping today — live, enrolling assets, and the subject of active university-validated research. It's also the first step toward a broader mission: making wireless power transfer ubiquitously available for home and industrial use, so that energy delivery itself becomes as flexible and software-defined as the dispatch intelligence we're building now.
That longer-term research track is early-stage and separate from the VPP platform's near-term roadmap — we're building it deliberately, not rushing it, and we'll say plainly what stage it's at rather than overstate it.
